Abu Simbel – Full Day

Abu Simbel – Full Day extension from $595 per person!

This full day extension to Abu Simbel – one of the natural wonders of the world, includes round-trip air from Cairo or Aswan. The Abu Simbel temples are two massive rock temples at Abu Simbel, a village in Nubia, southern Egypt, near the border with Sudan. They are situated on the western bank of Lake Nasser, about 230 km southwest of Aswan, about 300 km by road. The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the “Nubian Monuments,” which run from Abu Simbel downriver to Philae, near Aswan. The twin temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC, as a lasting monument to himself and his queen Nefertari, to commemorate his victory at the Battle of Kadesh.

The complex was relocated in its entirety in 1968, on an artificial hill made from a domed structure, high above the Aswan High Dam reservoir. The relocation of the temples was necessary to prevent them from being submerged during the creation of Lake Nasser, the massive artificial water reservoir formed after the building of the Aswan High Dam on the Nile River.

Abu Simbel’s marvelous temples are the perfect homage to the endless ego of Ramses II, see them for yourself on this delightful Abu Simbel – Full Day extension to your Egyptian visit.

Unforgettable Moment #8

Twice a year during the equinoxes, a miracle happens at Abu Simbel. And our dream was finally real! The sun was climbing steadily, igniting the shimmering desert sands. Excited and nervous, we stood flanking the inner chamber.

Suddenly, a shaft of pure white light poured through the sanctuary and anointed the visages of four sacred statues. Did I see a wry smile brush the granite lips of mighty King Ramses?

Unforgettable Moment #7

Yesterday I had my first glimpse of the Giza pyramids. Such potent symbols of the mysterious land of Egypt! As I gazed up into the ancient face of the Sphinx, I was reminded of why I had come to this intriguing land.

I wanted to see dusty tombs, ornate temples, golden treasure and the strange, unearthly mummies. But then I understood, I had found something so much more!
