I ducked under the snickering blades of the helicopter, jumped in beside the pilot, buckled up and put on my headphones. We swooped low over the Botswana Delta, startling herds of lechwe while following the humped grey backs of feeding elephants.
I could look all the way through a crystal clear lagoon and actually see hippo tiptoeing along the sandy bottom. This was a magical moment of dreamtime and I wished to never awaken!
