Sable Alley Camp, Khwai Private Reserve

Sable Alley is a piece of light, bright and beautiful luxury amid the game-rich floodplains of the massive 440,000 acre Khwai Private Reserve – a natural extension to the Moremi ecosystem – and the best news is that Sable Alley is as sustainable as it is sophisticated.  Each canvas-walled suite is over 590 square feet and comes complete with mini-indoor seating area, writing desk, double bed and en-suite facilities with two basin, flush loo and indoor shower.  There’s an outdoor shower with a view, too.

The communal areas are designed around the spectacular vistas – from the bar, from the outdoor fire pit, or from the lounge. At night, dinner is served either in the indoor dining area, or alfresco on the deck, accompanied by twinkling stars and the rumblings and grumblings of the wildlife. The swimming pool and sun deck also ideal spots from which to watch wildlife, or simply chill-out time in the heat of the day.

Located right on the banks of a lily-covered lagoon, home to harrumphing hippo and a favorite drinking spot for elephant and buffalo, the big game quite literally comes to you at Sable. But as tempting as it is to stay in camp, guests should venture out, for Khwai offers one of Africa’s greatest and most exclusive safari experiences. There’s an exciting range of activities including day and evening game drives, mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions (when water levels permit), game walks and viewing hides.
