Situated in the Oloolaimutia Valley, the Mara Sopa Lodge blends perfectly in with the surrounding hillside and is located 230 km south west of Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, inside of East Africa’s leading game reserve, Masai Mara.

Mara Sopa Lodge loungeThe lodge is designed as a hut and the interior reflects the Masai culture and art; “Sopa” means “Welcome” in the Masai language. The concept of the lodge is environmental care and conservation for the surrounding area, since the impact around that area could be disastrous. The lodge strives to set an example of going “green”,  accenting the lodge and surroundings with an abundance of wildlife, bird-life and flora that is found throughout the reserve.

Mara Sopa Lodge view over the swimming poolThe Mara Sopa Lodge provides a direct-dial telephone, satellite television (CNN plays nightly) and video options (wildlife videos); the guest shop sells a wide variety of curios, gift items, clothing, film, toiletries and bottled water. To relax there is a free-form fresh water swimming pool that overlooks the valley or there is the bar for a cocktails in the opulent bar and lounge area. On theme nights there is an African barbecue for Africa night; on other nights, there is always a variety of traditional and continental cuisine. Children are welcome at the lodge and baby-sitting is provided upon request.

The Mara Sopa Lodge has 77 rooms, 12 suites and 1 presidential suite; all of the rooms are in a rondavel style with queen sized beds and include full en-suite bathroom facilities each containing shaving sockets and hair dryers. Each of the rooms have am elevated private veranda with views of the valley, there is also mini-bars with drinking water flasks in each of the rooms.
