For many people, a safari is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and East Africa is the perfect choice for the ultimate romantic getaway, whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary, or simply the joy of spending quality time together. Africa is made for romance and for romantics.

The sounds of the African bush are all around you while, above you, a kaleidoscope of stars lights up the night sky with their ethereal light.  Come morning, don’t miss the chance to take an optional hot-air balloon ride and float above the vast, game-rich plains and enjoying a beautiful sunrise, followed by a champagne breakfast in the heart of the bush – an experience you and a loved one are sure never to forget

And after your time on safari, it’s time to move on to the sea and Zanzibar is the perfect destination for post-safari relaxation.  An incredible mix of culture, history, white sand beaches, sapphire blue waters and hidden rainforests, Zanzibar offers the ideal island getaway.  Indulge in a relaxing couples massage, explore the winding alleys of Stone Town and watch a beautiful sunset sitting on a serene beach while sipping ice-cold champagne – it  never gets old and boring.

Safari and Seaside: East African Romance Itinerary

Day 1 (Daily)  Arrive Nairobi
The safari excitement begins when you touchdown in Nairobi, Kenya. On arrival at the Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by a representative of Great Safaris and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 Nairobi
A day of private sightseeing in and around Nairobi includes the Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Center and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for a visit with the orphaned elephants and rhinos.

Days 3 -5  Nairobi /  Masai Mara
After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Wilson airport and enjoy the magnificent scenery on your flight to the famed Masai Mara. Arrive in time for lunch and your first afternoon gamedrive.

Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south.  The Mara is noted for its abundance of lions – particularly the superb black maned males. You’ll see lots of elephants here often in large herds, and if you’re lucky leopard, cheetah and rhino. All of the Big Five are residents.

Your three days here are filled with morning and afternoon gamedrives while the middle of the day allows for time to relax by the pool or join an escorted nature walk to observe some of the area’s smaller resident. Your time here also includes a private bush breakfast.  For the non-acrophobic,  an optional sunrise hot air balloon excursion offers a different perspective from which to enjoy the Masai Mara, soaring soundlessly above the early morning wildlife as the skies continue to lighten as the sun rises.

Day 6 – 9  Masai Mara / Nairobi / Zanzibar
Fly back to Nairobi Wilson Airport, where you’ll complete Customs formalities before boarding your onward flight to Zanzibar, Tanzania. You will be warmly welcomes by our representative and transferred to your hotel.

During the four days you have on this exotic island paradise, you’ll enjoy an escorted exploration of historic Stone Town, a sunset dinner cruise aboard a dhow, a visit to a local village, a tropical garden filled with numerous indigenous butterfly species and the Jozania Forest, home of the red Colobus monkey.  All this while still having time to soak up the sun while lounging on the white sands or around the pool and a relaxing couples massage.

Day 10  Depart Zanzibar
After breakfast, bid farewell to the tropical island life as you transfer to the airport for your departing international homebound flight.
